You really wouldn’t know that Beeston Fields Golf Club is less than 5 miles from Nottingham city centre! It’s a lovely oasis of green, very quiet, and a challenging course too. It’s not a long course, which suits a lot of golfers, but the greens are small and tricky! They try and look after nature and bird life too, which is admirable.
The members make everyone feel very welcome, and it’s a great place to pop up for a drink or lunch, particularly when the weather is good, as they have a lovely outdoor terrace area. A great Sunday carvery too!
Beeston Fields is an extremely welcoming golf club. The staff are very approachable and happy to help, whether it be from the pro shop, to the bar, restaurant, and kitchen. The course is challenging, yet rewarding, and the food is excellent and good value for money.
The proposed changes and improvements to the clubhouse and the course from the new owners make it an exciting place to be right now.
As a member of Beeston Fields Golf Club for the past three years, I can confidently say it has been an absolute pleasure to be part of such a welcoming and well-maintained club. Beeston Fields has always been regarded as one of the better clubs in Nottinghamshire, and with the significant investment in the clubhouse and hospitality offerings over the past few years, has become a very popular location to enjoy a meal with family as well as a round of golf!
The golf course presents a challenge for all golfers with its fast and challenging greens and tree-lined fairways that offer peaceful walks and shot-shaping difficulties. The members are known to be the friendliest in the county, and the club offers competitions for all levels.
Beeston is truly a great place to be, whether that be going up for a bite to eat while doing some work, competing with friends at the weekend, or enjoying bringing the family up for a Sunday carvery!
I was a new player but managed to play a lot and reduced my handicap to single figures in a short time.
I was helped a great deal in my time there by all members of the Mitchell family from Fred to Philippa and Cheryl, and especially John, who introduced me to County golf and then The Midland Union and up to International golf with England, serving on many committees. I had 10 good years as Club Junior Organiser in the eighties when Beeston were one of the best junior sides in England, winning the Notts County Championship 4 times, playing other clubs all over the country and abroad, having an exchange visit with Oporto G.C. in Portugal in 1989 and 1990, all good years.
I went on to supervise junior golf in the Midlands and to manage England teams here and abroad. I met many of the young star players like Westwood, Rose, Dougherty and McIlroy.
I owe thanks to Beeston Fields for my many wonderful memories and will support the club until I leave the mortal world and long after.

For me, one of the standout aspects of being a member of BFGC is the Pro Shop; the guys are always welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and very encouraging for members to improve their games.
They say first impressions count, and as in any commercial venture, customer engagement is key—these guys have got it 100% right.
